Lance Blackwell has been a professional mariner for over 28 years, originally teaching scuba diving and running dive charters up the BC coast. After moving to Ucluelet in 1997, he took the RHIOT course (Rigid Hulled Inflatable Ocean Traning) through the Coast Guard, and worked for the Tofino Coast Guard for a while, as well as volunteering for the Ucluelet Auxiliary Coast Guard.
Lance has also embarked on a more recent career of documentary filmmaking, see his documentary on the Wild Pacific Trail here in Ucluelet – www.wildpacifictrail.com . His 2010 documentary on fish farming, Silver Harvest, was aired on several TV stations in BC and Washington. He is currently working on a screen play about life in a small coastal village — lots of material to draw from here! We started shooting in spring of 2014 and hope to complete the movie this fall.
Most recently we now own Long Beach TV, a TV channel in Tofino and Ucluelet.
